Thank you to everyone who joined us on Tuesday, May 12 at The Vue Rooftop & Bar in Dillon for HR Essentials for Small, Mid-Sized, and Growing Businesses or Teams.

Led by Tom Mason, founder of PEAK Mindset, this free happy hour training brought together local business owners, hiring managers, team leaders, and professionals from a wide range of organizations - from small startups to larger companies and corporations - for a practical and engaging conversation around HR best practices.

Throughout the session, Tom touched on key HR basics, protocols not to overlook, common misconceptions around labor practices and state regulations, and the importance of using clear language that helps set businesses up for success. Attendees also explored topics including hiring, onboarding, employee management, unemployment insurance, labor practices, employee retention, growth opportunities, continuing education, and team development.

The training offered helpful, real-world guidance for businesses at every stage, whether they are just starting to build out HR processes, updating existing policies, or looking for ways to better support and retain employees. Tom’s relatable, people-first approach made the session approachable, relevant, and valuable for everyone in attendance.

Attendees also enjoyed food, beverages, great conversation, and the beautiful rooftop atmosphere at The Vue before sticking around for Tunes on Tuesdays.

A big thank you to Tom Mason and PEAK Mindset for sharing such valuable insight with our local business community and to The Homewood Suites - Dillon & Vue Rooftop for sponsoring the event
