How Much Is a Car Service from Eagle Airport to Aspen?

Blue Sky Limo SUVs staged for a group arrival on the Eagle County Regional Airport ramp

Travelers who land at Eagle County Regional Airport (EGE) on their way to Aspen have 68.5 miles left to cover: west on I-70 through Glenwood Canyon, then south on Highway 82 into town, about an hour and a half of driving on a clear day. The question we hear most about this leg is the price, so here's exactly what a private car service from Eagle Airport to Aspen costs right now, season by season.

At Blue Sky Limo, we've run private airport transfers across these mountains since 2012, and Eagle to Aspen is a leg our chauffeurs drive in every month of the year. What follows are the current numbers, the drive itself, and what to check before you book with anyone.

How Much Is a Private Car Service from Eagle Airport to Aspen?

A private car service from Eagle County Regional Airport (EGE) to Aspen costs $625 to $675 one-way for a Large SUV (up to 4 passengers), $725 to $775 for an XL SUV (up to 6 passengers), and $1,095 to $1,195 for a Sprinter van (up to 14 passengers), depending on the season. Every rate is flat and per vehicle, not per person.

Rates are per vehicle, one way, for online reservations. A 10% fuel surcharge may apply. Travel between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m. adds 10%. Holiday and severe-weather surcharges may apply. Split four ways, the $625 summer rate on a Large SUV works out to about $156 per person, which is why groups usually book a private shuttle over per-seat vans.

How Long Is the Drive from Eagle Airport to Aspen?

Count on 68.5 miles and about 1 hour 30 minutes of driving between the Eagle Airport curb and downtown Aspen in normal conditions. There's no mountain pass on this route: I-70 runs west through Glenwood Canyon to Glenwood Springs, and Highway 82 continues through Carbondale and Basalt into Aspen. Winter storms can stretch the timing, so our chauffeurs drive all-wheel-drive SUVs on studded snow tires and leave margin in the schedule instead of racing the canyon, while the cabin stays warm and the driving stays someone else's job. Dispatch tracks every flight into EGE, and your driver is timed to the plane you actually arrive on, not the one printed on the itinerary. Rideshare apps do serve EGE, but driver supply is thin, and most travelers have a car booked before their flight takes off.

Why Eagle Airport Will Be the Closest Open Airport to Aspen in 2027

Aspen-Pitkin County Airport (ASE) sits about 4 miles from town and is normally the closest way in. From April 4 through November 19, 2027, ASE will shut down for a runway reconstruction, and while it's closed, Eagle County Regional becomes the closest airport with commercial service to Aspen. Denver remains an option, but it's a 221-mile drive to Aspen against 68.5 from Eagle. Blue Sky Limo already holds airport permits at EGE, so for travelers planning a 2027 trip, the closure changes the airport, not the ride.

What to Look For in an Airport Car Service

Before you book with any company, here are the five things worth checking:

  • Licensing you can verify: Colorado PUC authority and USDOT interstate registration are public records; a legitimate operator will share its numbers without being asked twice.
  • A flat quote in writing: the figure you confirm should be the figure you pay, with charges included up front rather than added at the curb.
  • Winter-ready vehicles: on this route that means all-wheel-drive SUVs running studded snow tires in the cold months, in line with Colorado's traction law.
  • Flight tracking: ask whether dispatch follows inbound flights, or whether a delay means a phone call from the curb.
  • Child and booster seats: available upon request from a prepared operator; confirm yours at booking, not at the airport.

Those checks take ten minutes, and they're the standard we hold ourselves to on every Aspen run.
