• And the Winners Are....

If you were among the lucky 220 people who were able to attend the Kaiser Permanente Business Excellence Awards, presented by the Summit Chamber on January 26, at the Silverthorne Pavilion, you were treated to quite the extravaganza!

Hand passed appetizers by Food Hedz World Cafe, music by cellist Russick Smith, and a whole host of famous and infamous presenters all combined to make this first Business Excellence Awards ceremony since 2008, an electric affair.

Several months ago, the Summit Chamber Board decided to reintroduce the business excellence awards that had been on hiatus since 2008.

A committee was formed with people representing large and small businesses within our community to design the program. Together they researched best practices for excellence awards programs and decided on ten overall categories for the awards.

    They are:
    • Business of the year in the small, medium and large categories
    • Environmental champion
    • Customer service champion
    • Best place to work
    • Marketing strategy champ
    • Best start up
    • Workplace wellness champ
    • and an award named for the founder of the chamber, the prestigious Ben Fogle award

Nearly 80 Businesses were nominated in 10 different categories, and three finalists were selected from each category.

The judging was done by a team of 9 people who individually ranked the nominees using the nomination forms and a matrix specifically designed for these awards.

The rankings were tabulated and the highest and lowest score were thrown out resulting in an overall score which determined the winners. In some cases, it was a very close vote.
